A first look of Cloth that Changed the World: The Art and Fashion of Indian Chintz with Sarah Fee, Senior Curator of Global Fashion & Textiles (Asia & Africa), Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto

Sarah Fee presents a preview of her ambitious exhibition and scholarly catalogue, Cloth that Changed the World: The Art and Fashion of Indian Chintz, which is scheduled to open later in 2020 at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). In addition to her position at ROM, Fee is a Research Associate at the Indian Ocean World Centre, McGill University and has published and lectured widely on the textile arts of Madagascar and the western Indian Ocean World. ROM stewards a remarkable collection of historic painted and printed cottons, known as chintz, made in India for export to global markets. It was last exhibited and published in 1970 in the landmark “Origins of Chintz.”
