The photographs and videos by Chris Saunders document the contemporary South African street fashion and dance of pantsula, an urban township culture with roots in American culture of the 1950s. In this gallery talk, exhibition curator Erica P. Jones illuminates the subtle references to daily life in South Africa’s townships that run through the fashion and choreography of panstula.
