Culture Fix: Robert L. Brown on Indian Paintings and Sculpture in Enduring Splendor
In addition to historical and contemporary Indian jewelry, Enduring Splendor features sculptures and paintings demonstrating the profusion of jewelry worn in ancient times. Early sculptures reveal Hindu deities bedecked in jewels from head to toe, while Mughal watercolors depict the elaborate jewelry worn by maharajas and maharanis. Robert L. Brown, Professor of Indian and Southeast Asian Art, UCLA, and Curator of South and Southeast Asian Art at LACMA, discusses these materials in an informal gallery talk.
#CultureFix is a short format, informal gallery talk featuring artists, curators and other luminaries. No reservation required. Culture Fix programs are free of charge.
