Kids in the Courtyard: Dancing with Kites

Let your spirits and kites soar as you explore Afghan fighter kites with international kite master Basir Beria. Having learned as a child in his native Afghanistan, Beria was the “kite master” on location in China of Dreamworks’ The Kite Runner. There he taught 150 local children the art of kite flying for the making of the film. The master shares his knowledge of this Afghan art form, families will make and decorate their own interpretations, and then everyone will dance with their kites as they flutter in the skies near the Museum. Keep your fingers crossed for wind!
